Oroville is a city located in Butte County, California. It is situated at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, about 75 miles (121 km) north of Sacramento. It is the county seat of Butte County and is home to the Feather River and the Oroville Dam, which is one of the tallest earthen dams in the world. The city is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to Lake Oroville, which offers fishing, boating, and other water activities, as well as campgrounds, trails, and picnic areas. The city also hosts the annual Oroville Salmon Festival and the Gold Rush Days celebration. Additionally, the city is home to a number of historic sites, such as the Chinese Temple, the Oroville Chinese Temple and Museum, the Chinese Community Hall, and the Table Mountain Rancheria.
